Two Notes

  • Tank Sessions has committed to Florida State.
  • I am hearing that commitments may slow down instead of speeding up. I know everyone got all excited (including myself) after Luper's comments but we may not see the big time commitments within the next week you're expecting. Not trying to spoil anyone's week but trying to make sure everyone does not have too high of expectations.

  1. "lost another one to Ditech!"

  2. We are losing DE prospects at an alarming rate. Not too worried, there are still alot of great DE prospects out there. We probably end up with two 4star DE prospects, and I expect Bolonomo to be a 4star also. I think we end up with a couple of 4star DTs also, and Carter can play both positions.

On Pee Wee Cobbs- I speculate that the coaches know if offered he will except it. They may be using him as kind of a backup, They might have someone rated a little higher on thier own list.

Keep up the great work Beav. Your is the first site I check for info.

  4. Whew! There are some mean bloggers out tonight.

Beaver, this is great stuff. I saw where Ware committed to LSU today. Do you think this will have an impact on Trovon Reed's decision? Wasn't he considering LSU? Just curious.

  5. what were Luper's comments?

  6. Ware will play RB for LSU. Ive also heard that Storm Johnson also committed to LSU, but he is not listed on Rivals. LSU having 2 RB commits, seems like that would put him off. But he is the "scat back" type, so maybe not.

Luper said recruiting was going to pick up and we could (there is that qualifying word again) have 6-7 commits over the next 10 days. I think he said this last Wed night.

  7. I'm assuming that JUCO DE Ken Adams will resign with us at some point. 6-3 245 4.76/40

  8. Well, we've had 3 commits since last Wednesday. For Luper to be right we'd need 3 more. Hope so!

  9. Looking at our recruiting compared to last year. I don't see any improvement from the quality players we are getting. The staff is no doubt working much harder than the past staff, but I don't see the results. I wish Luper,Trooper, etc. would not make comments if they couldn't back them up.......Why would they make these big statements unless they were sure of it?

Overall I give them a C so far.

  10. I think they're doing a great job. It's pretty sad for the previous staff if the new one is doing just as well considering the handicaps they have. This is a new staff and the unknown may make recruits hesitant, and they have to deal with the 5-7 turd of a season that Tubbs left behind. And we are now at least entertaining the idea of top blue chip recruits, which never happened with the previous staff.

  11. Anon @ 7:20

I disagree with you about the recruiting. This staff has more interest from the 'big' players than the past few years of the old staff. It is only July people, just let it all play out. Auburn will have a hell of a class.

  12. Tank Sessions looks good on paper, but his film is extremely unimpressive. After viewing it, I was hoping that the coaches would cool off on recruiting him. No real loss here in my opinion.

FYI, Bonomolo's film is incredible! He comes off the ball like a rocket with very bad intensions. Can't wait for him to be a tiger!

  13. I believe the staff is recruiting well, but do wonder why they make these comments about big weeks that never happen. I think this has really gave fans high hopes on big things and caused some of the disapointment you see here.

  14. Look guys, last year we were pulling recruits away from Tulane, ULM, etc. Last year we were getting a recruit a week (during the summer) but many of them were not even in the databases of the 3 major services - nobody had heard of many of them. If you look at the class that we have this year - the majority of these guys have been offered by other SEC/BCS teams. If you look at their film many of these guys are very good players. Best WR in Alabama. Best WR in GA. Bigtime LBs. Solid OL, D recruits. Best kicker in the nation (laugh now but this can make all the difference in the world). And we are only 1/2 done with the class.

  17. We still have plenty of time fellas. Simmer down.....it's a long time between now and February. I'd be shocked if we don't end up with a Top 10 class.

  18. We already have potentially more espn 150 players than last year and more highly rated players than we have in a while. Our class is shaping up to be a great one and when we win every game next year, the classes will only get better.

  19. comparing this year to last year in recruiting is silly. the fact that you can even make a comparison coming off of all of what happened last year is incredible. we have a new coach, we went 5-7, there was a period of time in which all major media outlets were calling auburn racist, and now we're landing 4 stars and are in the mix for some of the top 10 recruits in the nation. if this class turned out to be top 25 it would be a success, and its likely it will turn out to be top 15.

this year and last year's recruiting come under completely different scenario. and yet we're arguably doing better this year.

    whine about that.

  20. we 11,

Exactly. Spot on!!! The fact that we are pulling some of these top kids after what we went through is a testament to the hard work by the current staff. The staff, by the way, that has been at AU for a just few months.

  21. Hey anon 10:04...I have meant to respond I read them while in a rush and did not respond...now they are accidently deleted...will you please resend both emails!? thanks

  22. as i've said before to people on many different sites, they will need more than a year. Even the "all mighty" nick saban and even urban meyer had 'poor' recruiting classes their first year if you look at what they are doing now. It will take time to build the connections with high school coaches and players, but the fact that we are having high interest from some top players means we are doing the right stuff. now if you want to look at the shitty star ratings on rivals and compare to last year go for it, but i trust these coaches and if the players are as good as they think they are, then many of them will be 4 stars by the time they sign.
