A Few Things

  • Corey Grant was back in Auburn today on an unofficial visit.
  • Izauea Lanier apparently still has not received his score on the ACT (or has not made it public yet). I am not expecting him to qualify.
  • John Cullen says Utah, Tennessee and Hawaii have recently offered. His top three are Auburn, Tennessee and Utah. Cullen plans on graduating in December. He is teammates with Joel Bonomolo.
  • As of now, Scout.com ranks Auburn's 2010 recruiting class 24th. This is only because of the smaller number of current commitments (8) for Auburn versus schools like Texas (19) and Stanford (21).
  • Rivals has been counting down their top 120 in the nation for the 2009 season. They rated Auburn 52nd. Auburn finished last season 67th.

  2. If Grant commits this will be a major WIN for this coaching staff. If we have a pretty good season this year I believe the recruits will come! WDE

  3. Remember the 3 schollys open now(arent they?) I got blasted on the boards the other day because I couldnt understand this, but cant Cullen take 1 of those schollys and it counts toward the signing class of Feb. 2009, instead of Feb.2010?

  4. philly-I'd say we have more of a shot at the rest of the 18 listed than ua or anyone else...cant figure out Grant though. He had to grow up an AU fan, right? He lives right down the road, and makes unofficial visits every other day. Whats going on with him? I really hope its about academics, but even then can UF, UA, and AU university have that big of diversity in schools/degrees offered by the university?

  5. i bet our recruitment of Seastrunk and Dyer is making Grant look elsewhere.

i got a feeling he goes to UF. i would love to have him. hate to see a hometown kid go anywhere else though

  6. Apparently Alabama people think he has more interest in them than he is leading. It is a solid source. He is a very non-homer bama fan that actually worked with Grant in 7 on 7 camp at UA.

I dont think recruiting Seastrunk and Dyer is enough to deter someone with the potential like Grant. Especialy when his other two top schools are Florida and Alabama

  7. Kirk-I agree and kinda hope so. Grant is a great back to have dont get me wrong, but I would take LS and/or MD over him anyday. Alot of it has to do with the fact that LS and MD were smitten when they came down and CG cant seem to figure out if he is coming or going or if its here or if its there. I sound dumb...these kids are making decisions that impact the rest of their lives. I dont know it just bothers me a bit. I'll quit whining now.

  8. I think Grant would be great in a Malzahn offense, even if Dyer and Seastrunk both came here. Can you imagine MD and LS in the backfield and CG in the slot?

I hate to hear that Izauea might not make it. He could have made a nice S/CB. Cullen needs to stop playing and come on to the Plains. Anon you are correct that is he signs and enrolls early, he would count against the 2009 class.

  9. Thanks BigCat, this is where I get confused, Hypothetically Cullen takes 1 and counts for '09 class, can AU sign 30 (2 schollys left over) instead of the SEC rule of 28 come Feb. '10?
