- Tyrone Cornileus wanted a committable offer from Auburn but never received one and that is the reason he recently named Georgia Tech and Miami as his leaders.
- Khairi Fortt was named the defensive MVP at the Top Gun camp in Orlando last week.
- Junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater received an offer from Auburn recently. That brings us to three 2011 quarterbacks to be offered along with Kiehl Frazier and Jeff Driskel.

Good coverage today Beav. Thanks.
ReplyDelete(the Savage thread massacre hopefully never happening again)
Maybe we have other linebackers who are silent committs or who the coaching staff covet more and believe they can get. But Cornileus seems to have attributes (size, speed) that linebackers need at the next level.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think that we have a silent commit such as perhaps LeDarius Owens or another that the Coaches want more. This kid looks pretty good.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a committable offer?
ReplyDeleteI just read on ESPN that we did not make the top 6 for Fortt. That would add to the theory that we may have 1-2 silent LB commits. Anybody with any thoughts on this?
ReplyDeleteTeddy Bridgewater is THE TRUTH!!! By this time next year (if he has not already committed) he will have offers from every school in the nation! That said, I don't think we can go wrong with any of these three QB's!
ReplyDeleteso somebody tell me why we didn't give cornileus whatever type of offer he wanted?
ReplyDeleteBecause you can only sign 28 players. We already have 4 LBs and are waiting to hear from 2 more big ones.
ReplyDeleteyeah i'm confused on the "commitable offer" situation. if he has an offer, all he has to do is say yes, right? if he doesn't, i guess that would mean he doesn't actually have an offer. it would be really interesting to be a fly on the wall in the coaches offices during the height of recruiting season.
ReplyDeleteGonna be hard to pull Bridgewater out of Florida
ReplyDeletebut if we can land any one of those guys, it would be a huge pick up.
hopefully by then Tyrik and Malazhn's offense is firing on all cylinders
Lots of players get "offers", only certain players have offers that allow them to commit at any time however. You can only take a certain number of guys at each position, you will obviously throw out more "offers" than positions available so it becomes a numbers game...you have clearcut #1 options and then backup plans. In the case of Cornelius we already have 3 LBs who we like better than him and have room for probably 1 more, that one being Owens who we also like better thus Cornelius not having a committable offer because that last spot is being held for someone else.
ReplyDeleteScholarship offers have all kinds of stipulations. You'll also see kids who get "offers" but cant commit on them until they've been evaluated in camp. In the case of JUCO recruits you'll often see stipulations like the offer only being committable if they player graduates JUCO in time to join the team in the spring.
this guy was simply one of many backup plans should we not snag one of the guys like owens and fortt.
ReplyDeletewe've got plenty of LB's.
If we can only take 1 more LB (Owens) than what about CJ Mosely, I m pretty sure we could make room for him. Also any updates on Jeffrey Whitaker and Mike Thorton.
ReplyDeleteWe dont have that great a chance with Moseley, but yeah, if he wanted to come we'd take both of them.
