Auburn's linebackers coach and leading recruiter James Willis has accepted the same position for top rival the Alabama Crimson Tide. Willis said the decision was the right decision "personally and professionally".
Willis was a linebacker for Auburn from 1990 to 1992 followed by seven seasons in the NFL. He then was a student and graduate assistant at Auburn. He was rehired in 2006 by Tuberville after short stints at Rhode Island and Temple.
Willis is the last remaining position coach from Tommy Tuberville's staff. Willis was rehired by Gene Chizik after he let all of Tuberville's staff go. He was the lead recruiter of the Mobile area and was responsible for the recruitment of four star commitment Jamontay Pilson and three star commitments Terrance Coleman, Clint Moseley, Nick Fairley, Jonathan Evans, LaVoyd James and John Sullen.
