Joel Kight, a three star inside linebacker from ML King High School in Lithonia, GA, has eliminated Georgia Tech after picking up an offer from Auburn earlier today. Auburn was barely even recruiting the 5'9", 200 lb linebacker before the Chizik staff was assembled.
They must have done something. Rivals does not even list Auburn as a college choice for Kight but high school coach Corey Jarvis has told Atlanta Journal Constitution writer Jeff Hood that Kight has narrowed his choices to just Auburn, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss.
Coach Jarvis stated that while he believes Kight eliminated Georgia Tech because he wants to get out of Atlanta, he also still wants to stay somewhat close to home. Also, Tech wanted him as a running back while Auburn is more likely to play him as a linebacker or even safety.
Kight boasts offers from Auburn, UAB, Boston College, Connecticut, Duke, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Indiana, Georgia Tech and Arizona State.
