Savage Update

Many players hinted that Aairon Savage may try to return to football. He will miss this entire season with an Achilles injury after missing all of 2008 with an ACL injury. Walt McFadden said that Savage is just leaving it in God's hands as to if he will return.

  1. well i hope savage returns, but i highly doubt god will help him with football, much less anything else. how cruel would it be for god to focus on the achilles heel of a football player in alabama and neglect the MILLIONS of people in utterly tragic circumstances around the globe? i love auburn, but man i wish people would realize how worthless having hope in god is....

    cue the cross shakers!

  2. I feel aweful for savage but i feel even worse for anony 12:25! Im sorry anony, i hope u enjoy ur time here on earth bc hell for an eternity isnt the way to go! i hope u figure that out soon before its too late!

  3. It is up to god. In college football the NCAA is god. The NCAA will decide if he gets another year. IMO if he request another year, it will be granted. We could use him in '10.

  4. Wow, awesome story about a God-loving young man who has given his life and his faith to the Man upstairs and the first response comes from a faithless atheist! Keep your negativity to yourself, Anon 1225! Oh yeah, and God can help Aairon and these "MILLIONS.. around the globe" at the same time, but I guess you wouldn't know that! God Bless Aairon, Auburn, and even you Anon 1225!

  5. I wish Savage well. I have to disagree, I think God cares about everything about us and wants to be involved in everyday whereever we are. I believe our steps are ordered by the Lord. He is a loving God who wants the best for us. Just my opinion.

  6. God may not determine whether you win/loss at football, or even if you play again, and he doesn't just make a decision for you with a sign. However, faith in him can give you the strength to make that decision, whether that be the hard and arduous process of rehabbing and getting back in the game or the hard and arduous task of making the decision the give up a game that has been the focus of your life for a really long time.

  7. anon 1246 #1 - so you're telling me my major motivation for somehow finding a way to change the way i believe should be the THREAT of eternal hellfire??? how much sense does that make? i'm supposed to BELIEVE that god is good and loving, and if i don't, he'll make me suffer horribly for eternity? don't you see how these two things are the exact opposites of each other? by the way - i hope you're right about which god you chose. hate for you to get up there and have a bunch of arabic people with wings on and white people getting kicked into the flames. you're a christian because you're from america. wake up.

  8. daniel - it's not negativity, it's reality.

"faithless atheist"? you mean like a baby? those horrible scumbags!

once again - wake up people!

  9. anon, this is a sports board so I won't tie it up with this topic. But I think just because someone is from america it doesn't make someone a christian. The bible says that God knew us while we were in out mother's womb. I think God calls his people, that is why I think all over the world God makes himself known. I wouldn't ever sit here and dog you out for your beliefs, it is what you feel, then that is your belief. It's ok to question God, I think he is big enough to handle it. I had a pastor tell me one time, just give God 2 weeks, tell him to change your life if He is able. I think God is able to do all things and I think that everything thing that happens to us, he cares. The bible says his eyes are on the sparrow. If so, how much more does he love us. Wish you well, anon and WAR EAGLE!

  10. Wow. I thought this was a football blog. But since it's not....12:25 AM ANON: As much as you'd like to deny the existence of God, it doesn't change the fact that he does exist. My guess is that you've never read one book of the Bible. If I'm wrong, my apologies. If I'm right, read the book of John and just have an attitude of "God, I dare you to show up in my life."

  11. Jack - thanks for the objective, reasonable and understanding post. on your suggestion - i was a christian for 16 years, i've given god more than enough opportunity to effect my heart.

you said the bible says his eyes are on the sparrow, and that's a moving thought, but the bible says a whole lot of horrible things too. check them out if you get a chance.

    sorry can't make it link

  12. anon 9:28 been there done that

i don't "want to deny the existence of god", i just have no proof, and neither do you. the reason this issue is critical is that human acts in the name of religion have done more to harm humanity throughout the course of history than any other idea - by A LOT. imagine no religion - people could just be reasonable, and love for the sake of loving, and enjoy this magnificent world without fear! i feel so sorry for people who live in fear of punishment from a god who exists solely on paper. it makes me sick for you. can't wait for the day when our species evolves to the point that we can understand that religion is useless. one day...

  13. Anon, the bible says the wages of sin are death. If man had not sinned there wouldnt be all this cruel stuff going on in the world that u say God causes. Man brought it on himself, and yes we do have to pay for the sine of one man 6000 years ago. But God didnt want to see us perish in hell, so he gave us a chance at new life. God says even creation and nature alone is proof enough of his existence. Walk outside and look and the beautiful sky, the animals, the trees, the mountains and tell me that it happened by chance and that there is no greater authority that sculpted them.

    ReplyDelete
  14. anon 936 #2, when did i say god causes bad stuff?

6000 years ago? really? i mean really? we have fossil records from millions of years ago. please go to one museum of natural history. please don't attempt to represent Auburn in a public setting when displaying that degree of ignorance - you'd embarrass the university. no offense, really.

    ReplyDelete
  15. How can u claim that is true when u sit there an claim that my historical records are false? How come u believe people who say they can look at a fossil and tell how old it is but u wont believe a book from 6000 years ago? really? i mean really?

    ReplyDelete
  16. i don't even know how to respond to that anon 954. people can change the words in a written text over time, people can lie in a book, and people can inadvertantly or intentionally change the details of a story relayed orally. i'm not saying any of those things is what happened, i don't know. the bible could be true - it just probably is not.

are you debating the aptitude of the scientific community as a whole? you've got to be kidding me. i'm just dumbfounded. if it wasn't for science A) you probably would have been dead already from some nasty pathogen B) if you weren't you'd be fighting your neighbor for your lunch, every day.... C) mockery is the sincerest form of flattery, so thanks.

you trust science to keep you safe, healthy and fed, but you don't trust science when it interferes with the text of your ancient superstitions. how convenient.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I just dont understand why you would believe people who makes guesses as to what happened thousands of years ago (or millions as they claim) over an historical text from that time period. Human guessing > Written, eye wittnessed accounts?

    ReplyDelete
  18. How can you even debate the existence of a creator? You wouldn't look at a coke can and assume that it just all of a sudden became a coke can. The coke can had to be created. So if a coke can had to be created and it is a simple object. How can someone assume that a world full of complex creatures just happened by chance? Besides, my faith is strong enough to overcome any science.

    ReplyDelete
  19. anon 1017 - you're misrepresenting everything you're saying, and you know it.

you're equating the scientific method to human guessing. this either makes you more ignorant than a 7th grader, or a liar with an agenda.

you're equating a document that has in all likelihood been incredibly dynamic over time to a factual eye witness account, when neither you nor anyone else has any true evidence to back up the claim.

i admire your resiliency here though. just keep coming back for more, i'll keep knocking you down on your ass.

  20. So...yay, football! I sure am ready for some football.

I'm an ex-Christian atheist as well, but the fact is, no one here is going to change anyone's mind on the subject, and this is not the forum for such an argument.

Best of luck to Savage, regardless of his beliefs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. just commenting on savage's assertion that his injury is in god's hands, that's all.

  22. If he wants it to be in Gods hands, what the hell biz is it of yours jackass?

    ReplyDelete
  23. anon 1044 - uneccesary trust in religion is responsible for immeasurable human suffering over time. if people would challenge their beliefs we could be free of religion's tyrannical grip. thanks for calling me a jackass. i'm sure jesus would have done the same, hypocrite.

  24. Maybe you should change to an Alabama fan, because what Jacobs & Chizik is building will be a program based on faith and morals. It's the total opposite of what is going down at Alabama. They treat Saban like an idol and he loves it. It's also pretty well known that Saban is an atheist, but hides it due to beingin the Bible belt.

  25. Can you guys please take this somewhere else? this is absurd. Last thing i want to see on my favorite AU Football blog is a a religion debate

  26. I said if he wants to leave it in GODS hands Jackass.......I never claimed to be anything.

Basically,Just worry about yourself and quit trying to change everyone mind to your way of thinking. People always talk about people of faith putting it in there face, but you are the first person posting on here with your non-football related dribble.

  27. i'm not trying to tell anyone what to do - i'll leave that to you: "quit trying to change everyone's mind to your way of thinking". i'm just commenting on a blog. maybe you should re-read the blog so you can understand the context of the comments.

  31. I just wanted to add my 2cents. I attend a university, which many of you hold dear to your heart. I had a concepts of science class and was lucky enough to have a substitute for a week who is one of the most distinguished scientists on the planet. Someone asked what he felt about God. He said I know many teachers and scientists seem to take a neutral stance or a stance opposing religion; however, if you actually study the body and understand how the chemicals and electricity keeps us alive and just how our whole body works, it is impossible not to believe in God.

Also, I would like to know if you believe in the big bang theory, because that is many times less credible than and religious theory of creation.

    ReplyDelete
  32. hey this is the hellbound halflife that started this mess. anon 1131 - the human body, as well as the entire natural world, is amazing. there are certainly things science does not understand, and i definitely don't claim to know everything. my opinion is that the religions man follows are ridiculous and made up. just my opinion. since this is a football blog, if anyone wants to continue this discussion, let me know and i'd be happy to share my email. sorry to hog the thread.

  33. Sorry I called the guy a "jackass". I just get mad when I log onto a football blog and there is a religion debate going on. I just don't think this is the place for it from either side of the issue. There are many other forums for that issue to be discussed Again, sorry.

  36. burnt2acrisp (way too much irony in that name),
You are obviously a young, spoiled college student who spends all of your time drinking and starting crap! Just cause you have a different opinion about God and religion doesn't make you any smarter or more informed than anyone else. Something in your life has obviously caused you to be bitter and question all religion (probably some whack-job professor you admired!) Talk to people who work in life-threatening situations everyday or folks in the military who've seen death firsthand and ask them if they believe in a "Higher Power". Not all, but most will say YES! It's a shame you're so jaded, cause you seem to be somewhat educated, but A WHOLE LOT misinformed. This IS important to sports and athletes, and the subject has been debated since long before you were born, burnt! The perfect mix of religion and science is sports. Who does every athlete thank when they win a championship or an award? God! When the big game is on the line, what does every player do? They join hands and pray. What does it take to win the game? The right amount of faith and physics. You could say that sports is Nirvana! Do something more impressive than a kegstand, then come back and take on God and the world that is WAY bigger than you! Oh, but I'm sorry BILLIONS of people are wrong and you are right! God Bless Everyone, especially burnt2acrisp!
P.s. Beaver, I hope this guy is not a friend of yours, cause this is one of my favorite sites!

Come on People...Go duke this out somewhere else. We are here to focus on Auburn Football and the exciting first season of Head Coach Gene Chizik and his exciting staff. We are not here to discuss our sunday beliefs. Whether you go to church or don't; that is a personal preference. But, let's talk about the exciting QB race with a core of explosive young wide recievers waiting under the wings of Trooper Taylor. This is the first day of practice and I'm excited.
