Grading Auburn's Recruiting Class

Quarterback - B
*** Clint Moseley (Leroy, AL) - Alabama's Mr. Football
**** Tyrik Rollison (Sulphur Springs, TX) - Rivals' most accurate passer

Running Back - A-
**** Dontae Aycock (Tampa, FL) - Rivals' 16th overall running back
*** Anthony Gulley (Brantley, AL) - Could be a sleeper
*** Brandon Jacobs (Lilburn, GA) - Will have to compete for playing time
**** Onterio McCalebb (Chatham, VA) - Rivals' 4th overall prep school player
Could add top all-purpose back David Oku

Wide Receiver/Tight End - A
**** DeAngelo Benton (Chatham, VA) - Was a five star last season, signed with LSU twice
**** Emory Blake (Austin, TX) - Has size and skills to make immediate impact, along with Benton
*** LaVoyd James (Mobile, AL) - Good speed, could make early impact
**** Philip Lutzenkirchen (Marietta, GA) - Great size, best hands among tight ends this season
*** Travante Stallworth (Leesville, LA) - Great speed, could be a big time sleeper


Offensive Line - D+
*** Andre Harris (Hampton, GA) - Rivals' 36th rated guard
*** John Sullen (Auburn, AL) - Named one of Rivals' top 5 sleepers of '09


Defensive Line - B
*** Terrance Coleman (Mobile, AL) - Nephew of current Tiger Antonio Coleman
*** Nosa Eguae (Mansfield, TX) - Underrated DE with great size
*** Nick Fairley (Wesson, MS) - Was in state of Alabama's Top 10 out of high school in '07 as an offensive guard
** Josh Jackson (Gainesville, GA) - Surprise late addition whom Tracy Rocker recruited at Ole Miss
**** Jamar Travis (Brewton, AL) - Will likely have the most impact out of this class of defensive lineman

Linebackers - C+
*** Jonathan Evans (Prichard, AL) - With good size and strength, could be an impact player down the road
*** Donald (Dee) Ford (Odenville, AL) - Outside backer with great speed and open field tackling ability
*** Eltoro Freeman (Perkinston, MS) - His stars don't show that he could possibily be he biggest impact player in the entire recruiting class
*** Harris Gaston (Bessemer, AL) - Huge and fast, could play defensive end

Defensive Backs - B-
** Daren Bates (Olive Branch, MS) - Will surprise many and be a huge impact for Auburn down the road
**** Taikwon Paige (Milledgeville, GA) - Late addition could strengthen the defensive backs group immediately
**** Reggie Taylor (Fort Valley, GA) - Great speed, will probably be an impact player down the road

Athlete - C
** Robert Cooper (Mobile, AL) - Grayshirt played QB in high school, good size, likely will change positions
*** Izauea Lanier (Gordo, AL) - Likely will play safety at Auburn
*** Demond Washington (Perkinston, MS) - Very underrated by Rivals, could play running back, receiver or corner

  1. I don't know Beaver, I'd say our QB class gets at least a B+ because Tyrik "The Freak" Rollison is a stud! This guy looks impressive, woulda been a 5 Star for sure if he didn't have academic issues.

    I think at least 2 of the listed Athletes will play DB, Washington and Lanier...we'll have to wait until next year 2010 to see what Cooper does.

    Otherwise, I'd say a pretty fair assessment.

  2. We ended up with a solid recruting class with ou coaches having very litttle time to recruit.
