Some Notes

  • Anthony Gulley is now going by Anthony Gulley-Morgan.
  • Paul Finebaum has predicted Auburn to go 9-3 in 2010.
  • Jeff Grimes says offensive tackle John Sullen has had a solid spring and in great shape.
  • It appears Cam Newton has been taking the majority of first team snaps.
  • Probably the biggest news is that it appears Shon Coleman is cancer free. He still has to go through treatment but it is miraculous that he is in remission after just 15 days of treatment.
Now some notes from Saturday's scrimmage:
  • Mario Fannin had a 60 yard touchdown run.
  • The only touchdown pass was from Newton to Darvin Adams. Neil Caudle threw an interception to Demond Washington.
  • The offense won the scrimmage.
  • Stick with me...I know I have not updated a ton lately but that is about to change.

Notes

  • Trooper Taylor says to expect to see DeAngelo Benton, Emory Blake, Travante Stallworth and Anthony Gulley all to see action.
  • Tracy Rocker plans to rotate a ton of defensive linemen. We could see up to nine.
  • Darvin Adams is not a sure thing to play Saturday. He has been hindered by an off and on ankle injury. More to come on this...
  • During today's practice, Aubrey Phillips was at study hall.

Morning Practice Notes

I know this is slacking today but it has been a busy day for me. This is basically just the big points from today:
  • The Tigers wore full pads Monday morning.
  • Trooper Taylor praised Neiko Thorpe today on defense.
  • D'Antoine Hood has moved from safety to cornerback.
  • Tim Hawthorne seems to be tutoring DeAngelo Benton.
  • Tyrik Rollison seemed to be off to a slow start with the offense but now appears to be learning it quickly.
  • Trooper Taylor named the top 3 wide receivers as Terrell Zachary, Darvin Adams and Montez Billings, in no order.

Practice Wrap Up

  • Receivers receiving the most praise thus far are Darvin Adams and Terrell Zachary.
  • Malzahn also said Emory Blake and DeAngelo Benton are the other two standouts so far in practice. Chizik called Benton a "work in progress".
  • Gus Malzahn plans to rotate Kodi, Neil and Chris Todd in the first group.
  • Malzahn said to not look too far into the rotation as he wants to see what the three quarterbacks can do with the first group.
  • So far, the leading contenders for the Wildcat QB position are Travante Stallworth, Dontae Aycock, Emory Blake and Mario Fannin.
  • Any narrowing down on Wildcat quarterback will not come until after the first scrimmage.
  • Chizik said the first practice with pads was not physical enough.
