A Name To Watch

A new name is floating around on recruiting sites regarding Auburn. Five star JUCO quarterback Cam Newton says he has a lot of interest in Auburn and with recent rumors circulating regarding freshman quarterback Tyrik Rollison and his suspension, Newton could be a target of the staff. Newton does not have an offer yet from Auburn but if he does receive one then Auburn would likely be a favorite. Right now people expect Newton to choose between Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

  1. strangely, i don't know how to feel about this. a 5* qb would be huge, but i would feel sorry for tyrik if he got ousted. he's a good kid with good talent, but i believe our coaches will put whoever will give us the best chance to win on the field.

  2. I don't know how I feel about us recruiting Newton. I mean, he stole a laptop, spray painted it in order to disguise it, and then when cops came to investigate, he tossed it out the dorm window. Burglary is not good, and I don't know how smart the guy is either.

  3. Newton bought a stole laptop, but he did toss it out the window.

But this is probably not going to happen. Newton is going to MissSt w/ Mullen. State has not had a qb in over a decade.

  4. I do not know the whole story and not trying to justify anything but everyone deserves a second chance. Whether if it is at Auburn, MS State, wherever. I hope the kid learned from it and can do something positive with himself.

  5. What could Tyrik have done That's so bad to get passed over by a guy accused of doing what Newton has done? There's some 'splainin' to do.

  6. He is 6'6 247 and runs a 4.5...WOW!

Yeah I'd feel bad for Tyrik and Clint if this guy comes in and takes the starting job (assuming he can beat them out), but man he is a huge beast of a QB who could be a serious game changer. I trust the coaches will do what is best for Auburn.
