Know A Signee: Robert Cooper

  • Will wear number 16 (walk-on quarterback Brent Poole will also wear 16).
  • Two star dual-threat quarterback on Rivals and Scout. Also regarded as an athlete and will likely end up changing positions. A high school coach says he is going in with the mindset that he will play quarterback but says he could see him at tight end or safety.
  • Mobile, Alabama (Daphne High School)
  • Born: July 20, 1990
  • Committed on the day before National Signing Day.
  • 6'4", 225 lbs. 4.52 sec 40 yard dash (I have also heard closer to 4.4 now). 3.5 GPA and 27 on the ACT.
  • 2008 stats: 125 for 195 passing for 1,700 yards, 17 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Rushed for 605 yards and 8 touchdowns on 104 carries. Helped lead his team to a 6A playoff berth. 2007: minimal impact on offense. Threw three touchdowns on offense while picking off three passes on defense.
  • Star of Alabama Week 6 game against Foley. Cooper had 384 total yards, was 15/24 passing for 268 yards. Ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Had offers from South Alabama and UAB. Planned on accepting a grayshirt offer to Auburn but ended up receiving a scholarship offer on May 21 after it became apparent that Reggie Taylor would not qualify.
  • Took official visits to Auburn and UAB.
  • Says he would have gone to UAB if it were not for Auburn.
  • He is qualified and on campus.

Lattimore Expected At A-Day

Running Back U has made great strides so far in the 2010 recruiting season for the top running backs. The number one running back, Lache Seastrunk, visited Auburn and said it was the best visit he's had and I believe Auburn is in his top 2. The third best running back in the nation, Michael Dyer, has visited Auburn and lists them in his top 3. It's not surprising, then, that the number two running back in the nation, five star Marcus Lattimore, will take in A-Day. The ESPNU 150 back out of South Carolina has not really mentioned much about Auburn but will be one of many recruits in attendance. Lattimore has previously mentioned Auburn in his top 10.

There are expected to be around 60 recruits in Auburn on Saturday. Auburn has to compete with other spring games this weekend such as Alabama, West Virginia and Tennessee. Damien Robinson was originally supposed to visit this weekend has since backed out. Brian Vogler attended practice today.

2008 signees Robert Cooper, Anthony Gulley, Daren Bates, Andre Harris, John Sullen, Philip Lutzenkirchen, Taikwon Paige and Travante Stallworth will also be in attendance.
