Two NFL Updates

• Auburn cornerback Walter McFadden was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the seventh pick of the 5th round of the NFL Draft. He was 138th overall.
• Former Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell was traded from the Washington Redskins to the Oakland Raiders for a fourth round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Auburn Snubbed in AP All-SEC

The Associated Press has released the All SEC First and Second Teams. Some names surprisingly are missing from both, such as Darvin Adams.

Team Updates

• Eltoro Freeman is working his way back from an ankle injury. Gene Chizik says he hopes he will be back in the next couple of days and says Freeman has "made some headway". Freeman may have practiced tonight.
• Freeman has been seen walking in a boot this past week.
• Chizik: "I think your chances of winning a huge rivalry game is in direct proportion to how you prepare for it."
• Charles Goldberg writes that Walt McFadden planned on giving the message boards some trash talk to post about but he has decided against it.
• Not a whole lot else has been coming out lately. Chizik may still comment on tonight's practice later.
• ALSO: A-Day has already been set for April 17, 2010.

Two Tigers Honored

Two Auburn Tigers were honored by the SEC for their play on defense this weekend.

• Walt McFadden was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week with 5 tackles (1.5 for loss), and 2 interceptions (1 returned for a touchdown).
• Antonio Coleman was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week with five tackles (four for loss), 2 sacks, one forced fumble, four QB hurries and one blocked kick.

Practice Notes

• Eltoro Freeman returned to practice today, as first reported by ITAT. It is not cleared as to if he will play this weekend against Kentucky after not traveling to Arkansas.
• Josh Bynes says today was a great, physical practice according to Auburn Undercover. He said Auburn's defense has to get their focus back.
• Practice started with first offense against first defense, head to head, and the pads were clacking.
• Onterio McCalebb says he was full speed today and will play Saturday, according to Charles Goldberg.
• AuburnSports.com is reporting Eltoro Freeman as day-to-day with personal issues, as is Zach Clayton with an undisclosed injury. Walt McFadden will be a gametime decision.

News Updates

• Eric Smith will play on Saturday. Eltoro Freeman might. Chizik said he really hoped Freeman will play.
• Curtis Luper says he hopes to redshirt Dontae Aycock.
• Tommy Thigpen complimented his safeties but says they need to do better tackling and says Bates should have had another pick and Etheridge missed an opportunity for one.
• Jay Boulware has come down hard on Mario Fannin and I would not expect to see him returning kicks this weekend.
• Curtis Luper says he wants to lower Onterio McCalebb's touches to about 15.
• Anthony Gulley, Emory Blake, Demond Washington, Quindarious Carr, Zac Etheridge and Walt McFadden are all being considered at punt returner.
• The offensive line appeared to be in shape on Saturday but Jeff Grimes says the linemen need to work on their conditioning.

Two Notes

• Josh Harris has won the deep snapping job for field goals and extra points. Clayton Crofoot will hold.
• Interesting note that Inside The Auburn Tigers has made me aware of: 8 of 13 seniors have already earned their degrees (Montez Billings, Antonio Coleman, Walt McFadden, Chris Todd, Gabe McKenzie, Aairon Savage, Ben Tate and Tommy Trott).

More Notes From Practice

• Tyrik Rollison has reportedly had very impresses practices in the last two days. Many believe he is still legitimately in the running for back-up quarterback, if not starter. I think Rollison will redshirt, personally.
• A quote from Chizik on Chris Todd: "You can tell he has experience at the position, and there's no substitute for that...Being out in the spring, his experience certainly helps him learn it at probably a more rapid rate."
• Walt McFadden says the secondary is growing small beards together.
• Chizik says the team may practice in full pads tomorrow.
